The big girl bed

Now that tax season is over, Jason and I had an opportunity to go pick out a big girl bed for Autumn. We decided to skip the toddler bed because they just don't seem very sturdy and Autumn will outgrow it in about a year anyway. We were torn on whether to get her a twin or a full since it might also have to serve the purpose of "guest bed" every once in a while. We decided on a twin since we still have the other full size bed in Charlee's room.

We really hyped up the whole "big girl bed transition". For weeks, we talked with her about how she was ready to be in a big girl bed, we took her to the matress store and let her "test" out different matresses and we went to Target and picked out some really fun sheets. She even got to help daddy put the metal frame together.

The first night in the big girl bed was far better than my expectations. I hear horror stories about how parent's can't get their toddler to stay in their bed for the first week or so. We delayed Autumn's bedtime until about 8:30 so she was a little more tired than normal and placed her in her bed after Jason sang to her, we did a round of goodnight kisses and mommy read her 2 stories. She fell asleep after 4 minutes! We were so impressed. She stayed in her bed all night and in the morning she woke up, sat up and yelled "mommy! come get me!" We're ok with her thinking she still needs to be "gotten".
